The Line: Monmouth Hawks -3 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Monmouth Hawks will play their last home game of the season when they host the Niagara Purple Eagles. These teams met back in early January and Monmouth won 85-74.
The Purple Eagles have lost eight straight games and just can’t wait for this season to end. A lot of these losses have to do with poor defense. While they’re averaging 73.6 points on 42.5 percent shooting in their last five games, they’re allowing 80.2 points on 47.7 percent shooting. They’ve allowed three 90-point performances in their last six games. They average 75.5 points and allow 87.3 points on the road. They’re 14-14 ATS overall and 6-9 ATS on the road.

The Hawks haven’t been any better this season, losing nine straight games. Just in their last five games, they’re averaging 64.8 points on 41.8 percent shooting and allowing 76.4 points on 45.1 percent shooting. They’ve failed to score 70 or more points in four of their last six games and are shooting just 24.6 percent from beyond the arc in their last five matchups. At home, they average 71.5 points and allow 74.4 points. They are 10-12-1 ATS overall and 3-7 ATS on their home court.
It’d be best to stay away from this game considering just how horrible these teams have been. But if forced to pick a side, I’d go with the home team and the small chalk.
It’s the last home game of the season for the Hawks, and players should be motivated to end the year on a positive note. Also, the Hawks have the rebounding advantage at 37.5-34.8.
I think the best overall play would be to consider the under when the totals are released, but for the sake of the article, my free pick will be on Monmouth to end their losing streak.
