The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a SEC college basketball rivalry game.
The Alabama Crimson Tide had all of the ingredients to cook up a big college basketball season but their lack of ability to win on the road was their undoing. Alabama is 11-4 at home and 5-10 in the SEC this season failing to win even a game on the road. Trevor Releford leads the Tide averaging 18.9 points per game. Retin Obasohan is averaging 9.6 points, Levi Randolph is averaging 9.0 points, and Shannon Hale is averaging 8.5 points. Alabama is averaging 68.2 points and they are shooting 44.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 68.3 points and their opponents are shooting 42.9 percent. This has been a major disappointment of a season for Alabama.

The Auburn Tigers are coming off of a win against South Carolina but they are tied for 11th place in the SEC standings. Auburn is 1-8 on the road and 5-10 in the SEC. Chris Denson leads the Tigers averaging 20.4 points per game. K.T. Harrell is averaging 18.4 points, Tahj Shamsid-Deen is averaging 9.8 points, and Allen Payne is averaging 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds. Auburn is averaging 73.4 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.6 points and their opponents are shooting 42.6 percent. Auburn beat Alabama 74-55 on January 30th.
Alabama is 2-5-2 against the spread in their last nine home games, 3-1-1 against the spread following a loss, and 5-13-3 against the spread in their last 21 games. Auburn is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a losing percentage under .400, 12-2 against the spread following a win, and 4-0 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Auburn is 11-4-1 against the point spread in the last 16 meetings of these two.
It’s tough to go with the road team in a rivalry game but I ma willing to do it here with Auburn and the points.
