The Florida Gators and the LSU Tigers face off on Saturday at the O’Connell Center in a SEC college basketball battle.
The Florida Gators are in first place in the SEC and ranked number one in the nation as they are three wins away from a perfect regular season conference record. Florida is 15-0 at home this season and 15-0 in the SEC. Casey Prather is the Gators leading scorer averaging 14.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Scottie Wilbekin is averaging 13.5 points, Michael Frazier II is averaging 12.2 points, and Patric Young is averaging 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. Florida is averaging 70.8 points and they are shooting 45.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.6 points and their opponents are shooting 40.3 percent. Florida is shooting for the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The LSU Tigers have won two of their last three games but a win in this one would go a long way in building their NCAA Tournament resume. LSU is 8-7 in the SEC, 4-8 away from home, and 1-2 against teams ranked in the top 25. Johnny O’Bryant is averaging 15.4 points and 7.8 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Jordan Mickey is averaging 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds, Andre Stringer is averaging 11.9 points, and Jarrell Martin is averaging 10.3 points. LSU is averaging 77.3 points and they are shooting 45.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.9 points and their opponents are shooting 40.5 percent. LSU has a RPI of 65 and a strength of schedule of 72 which isn’t going to help them on selection Sunday.
Florida is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games and 2-5 against the spread following a win. LSU is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, 1-5-2 against the spread in their last eight road games, and 3-7-2 against the spread following a win.
Florida is a big favorite here and they have been simply the best finishers in the nation and I look for them to finish LSU here as well and get the cover making a statement.
