The Missouri Tigers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs face off on Saturday in SEC college basketball.
The Missouri Tigers have lost their last two games and they are watching their NCAA Tournament hopes slip away. Missouri is 7-8 in the SEC and 13-2 at home this season. Jabari Brown is the Tigers leading scorer averaging 20.1 points per game. Jordan Clarkson is averaging 18.6 points, Earnest Ross is averaging 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds, and Johnathan Williams III is averaging 6.1 points and 6.7 rebounds. Missouri is averaging 74.2 points and they are shooting 46 percent while defensively tey are allowing 69.4 points and their opponents are shooting 41 percent. Missouri will have to make some noise in the SEC Tournament as their 68th ranked schedule and 48 RPI aren’t going to help them.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have lost 10 games in a row and they are tied for last place in the SEC. MSU is 3-12 in the SEC and 2-9 on the road this season. Craig Sword is averaging 13.3 points per game to lead the Bulldogs. Gavin Ware is averaging 10.2 points and 7.4 rebounds, Colin Borchert is averaging 9.4 points, and Roquez Johnson is averaging 9.7 points. Mississippi State is averaging 68.3 points and they are shooting 44.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 70.8 points and their opponents are shooting 44.8 percent. Mississippi State hasn’t won a conference road game this season.
Missouri is 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 home games, 1-4 against the spread following a loss, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six games. Mississippi State is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 8-20-1 against the spread in their last 29 road games.
This just looks to be one of those cases where it is way too many points making Mississippi State a solid choice here.
