The Pittsburgh Panthers travel to Notre Dame to play the Fighting Irish on Saturday afternoon.
The Pittsburgh Panthers improved to 21-7, 9-6 ACC after beating Boston College on the road 66-59 on Wednesday night. The Panthers are led by Lamar Patterson, who in my opinion, is one of the best players in the ACC, if not the country this season. Patterson averages a team-high 17.2 points and 4.4 assists per game this season. Talib Zanna is averaging a second-best 12.2 points per game while averaging a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game. The Panthers averages a solid 72.3 points per game while shooting 45.8% from the field as a team this season. Pittsburgh is one of the better rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging 36.6 boards per game. Pittsburgh bounced back after losing three straight games, but they have lost five out of their last eight overall. The Panthers will be on the road for this one; Pittsburgh is 5-2 on the road against conference opponents.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish improved to 15-14, 6-10 ACC after beating Georgia Tech at home 65-62 on Wednesday night. On the season, Garrick Sherman leads the Irish in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for Notre Dame. Eric Atkins is averaging 13.4 points per game while averaging a team-high 4.6 assists per game. The Fighting Irish are shooting 45.4% from the field while averaging 72.4 points per game as a team this season. Notre Dame is a decent rebounding team and they are one of the best teams when it comes to distributing the basketball, averaging 15.5 assists per game. Despite the win over Georgia Tech on Wednesday, the Fighting Irish have lost seven out of their last eleven games overall. Notre Dame will stay at home where they have won three of their last four in conference play.
Pittsburgh has been struggling over the past month, but they have the talent to make some noise in the ACC tournament. The Panthers need every win they can get down the stretch so they will be focused for this game on Saturday. Notre Dame doesn’t have much to play for except for pride at this point. I think the Panthers will out play Notre Dame on Saturday and earn a win on the road.
