The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and Florida Atlantic Owls will clash Sunday at the FAU Arena.
The Golden Eagles have won three straight home games, but will go back on the road where they have lost their last two. They remain arguably the best team in the C-USA, but all five of their losses have come on the road. Away from home they average 66.2 points on 44.2 percent shooting and allow 67.2 points on 44.2 percent shooting. That’s about five less points scored and four more points allowed than their season averages. They are 16-9-1 ATS overall and 7-7-1 ATS on the road.

The Owls have lost four straight games and five of their last seven. During their losing streak, they’re averaging 63.8 points on 42.8 percent shooting and are allowing 71.2 points on 45.1 percent shooting. They’ve allowed at least 71 points in three straight games and are averaging 12.4 turnovers in their last five. At home is where they have been fairly decent, averaging 68.7 points and allowing 65.9 points. They are 12-12 ATS overall and 5-4 ATS on their home court.
Before putting a wager down, make sure to check the status of FAU guard Pablo Bertone. He’s questionable for this game with a quad injury.
But whether he plays or not, you have to like Southern Miss to take this game comfortably. Sure, the Golden Eagles have struggled on the road, but the Owls have struggled everywhere they’ve played in the entire second half of the season.
The Golden Eagles are fighting for a C-USA regular season title and simply can’t lose games like this if it hopes to accomplish that goal. They’re the better team at both ends of the floor, especially defensively, and should win this game with ease.
Take the road team and the chalk.
