The Stetson Hatters open the Atlantic Sun postseason with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at Alico Arena.
If you compare Stetson in their non conference schedule and their play in the Atlantic Sun you will see the team has struggled at both ends of the floor. The Hatters had high hopes heading in to the final month+ of the regular season when they slumped to 1-9 record. In this stretch reaching the mid 60's didn't happen often enough while the defense was a bit all over the map. The starting five is capable of scoring in double figures but Willie White is the only one that produces consistently at over 13 points and if Stetson is to advance he needs help especially if the defense can't hold FGCU to under 70 points.

Is Florida Gulf Coast poised to make another deep run in the NCAA's? Possibly but they'll have to win the Atlantic Sun once again to get an invite to the Big Dance. Having said that the Eagles weren't about to sneak up on anyone after last season's tournament run which makes their tie for first in the Atlantic Sun an impressive accomplishment. What makes this team so dangerous is their ability to do a little of everything with the trio of Brett Comer, Chase Fieler and Bernard Thompson producing more then 43 points with a supporting cast that is capable of breaking the ten point barrier. The bottom line is there are plenty of scoring options.
Surprisingly Stetson has played Florida Gulf Coast as tough as any team even though the Bisons are near the bottom of the Atlantic Sun. I personally wouldn't lay the big chalk because the Eagles might be holding back for their next opponent but do you really want to back the Hatters...
