The Oakland Golden Grizzlies clash with the Youngstown State Penguins in a Horizon postseason opener.
Oakland's first season as a member of the Horizon didn't result in anything unexpected as the team lost talent from previous years that made them one of thest offensive teams in the game. That is not to say the cupboard is bare but it's not as full as it once was. Even though it is not full the best way for Oakland to win is to put points on the board which they did reasonably well even though the defense often failed with the opposition holding a 77-74 scoring advantage. The Golden Grizzlies can't depend on getting stops so they must score and if the threes are falling for long range specialist Travis Bader anything can happen.

Youngstown State always seems to be a team that is hanging around the top four of the Horizon and were early in the 2013-14 campaign. However, the Penguins fortunes took a turn for the worse over the final weeks of the year as they slumped to a 2-7 record. In this span the defense struggled and their above average offense was not consistent and this is a tam that has to score to win. Throw in their struggles to capture close games and a 6-10 conference record was their fate despite loads of talent. The scoring potential of the Penguins should scare people because they are good especiall when do everything Kendrick Perry plays well. Perry averaged 20 points, four pulls and four assists on 50% shooting with nearly 2.5 steals.
These teams are not all that different from each other which has me looking at the points because beating the same team three times in a row is a lot to ask...
