The Line: Marshall Thundering Herd -2.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Charlotte 49ers and Marshall Thundering Herd will end their regular seasons with a matchup on Thursday night. These teams just played on February 15, and the Thundering Herd won 59-56.
The 49ers recently snapped their six-game losing streak with a 74-63 win over the Old Dominion Monarchs. We really knew it was only a matter of time with three of their last six losses being decided by three points. In their last five games, they’re averaging 61.8 points on 43 percent shooting and are allowing 66.4 points on 44.1 percent shooting. They’ve been a bad road team this season (2-8 SU) and average 69.5 points and give up 77.2 points. They are 11-13 ATS overall and 6-7 ATS on the road.

The Thundering Herd have also been sinking like the Titanic, winning just two of their last eight games. In just their last five matchups alone, they’re averaging 60.2 points on 38.2 percent shooting and are allowing 62.2 points on 40.6 percent shooting. Much like the 49ers, three of their last five losses have been decided by three points or less. At home, the Thundering Herd average 70.3 points and give up 68.9 points. They are 9-14-1 ATS overall and 4-6-1 ATS at home.
These teams have been playing identical basketball lately, losing, but losing close games. In a matchup that’s so tight, you have to go with the home team, especially considering it’s senior night and the Thundering Herd are going to be ready to put on a show. Charlotte has been absolutely horrendous on the road and has failed to cover in its last six road trips.
Marshall isn’t any better, just 2-6-1 ATS in its last nine road games. However, as we have seen over the last week, senior night wakes teams up.
I’ll take the small chalk.
