The Rice Owls could end their season on a positive note with a shocking home victory over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. These teams played on February 15, and the Bulldogs dominated 85-46.
The Bulldogs have won seven of their last eight games and continue to fight for the top seed in the C-USA Tournament. Their offense hasn’t been clicking the way we’re used to seeing, as they haven’t come close to 80 points in their last four games, however, their defense has picked up. In their last five games, they’re averaging just 69.2 points on 41.1 percent shooting but are allowing just 56.8 points on 40.2 percent shooting. On the road, they average 78.1 points and give up 70.4 points. They are 13-10 ATS overall and 7-7 ATS on the road.

The Owls have lost their last six games and are a brutal 2-13 SU in conference play. In their last five games, they’re averaging 50.6 points on 37.3 percent shooting and are allowing 66.6 points on 41.8 percent shooting. They don’t do much right on either side of the ball, and that doesn’t change on their home court. At home, they average 65.5 points and give up 70.7 points. ATS, they are 10-13 overall and 4-6 on their home court.
It’s no secret these teams are mismatches, and it was proven in their earlier meeting. However, asking the Bulldogs to cover such a heavy number is a little out of my price range. While Rice has been beyond terrible, three of its last six games have been decided by 10 or less points. Also, it is senior night and the Owls best player in Austin Ramljak should do what he can to keep this somewhat close.
The Owls are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS victory. The building should be packed and Rice should at least put on a decent showing to keep this within the projected number.
