The Western Michigan Broncos and Central Michigan Chippewas will play their final regular season game at the McGuirk Arena. These teams met back on February 1, and Western Michigan won 75-72.
The Broncos have won nine of their last 10 games and are hoping to win the West Division in the MAC. On the season, they’re averaging 71.3 points on 45.8 percent shooting and are allowing 68.2 points on 41.5 percent shooting. They’re one of the more balanced teams in the MAC, and senior guard David Brown has topped 20 points in four of his last five games. On the road, the Broncos average 67 points and allow 71.1 points. They are 13-12-1 ATS overall and 7-6-1 ATS on the road.

The Chippewas have lost six of their last eight games, including three in a row. On the season, they average 70.1 points on 42.4 percent shooting and allow 75.7 points on 49.9 percent shooting. Their defense has been their downfall all season, as they’re just 4-16 SU when allowing 70 or more points. Offensively, Chris Fowler has scored in the double digits in 17 straight games. The Chippewas average 74 points and allow 75.2 points on their home court. They are 10-14-2 ATS overall and 5-8 ATS at home.
With this being a rivalry game and the last home matchup for Central Michigan, you can throw out a lot of the numbers and trends. Four of the last five meetings have been decided by six or less points. Also, the underdog has covered in the last five matchups.
Although the Broncos are the better team and should win, there’s just that funny feeling lurking that Central Michigan is going to give them all they can handle and possibly even pull off the upset.
With that said, I’ll ride the trend of this being a close game and take the home team and the points.
