Defense ruled the day in American's 59-50 decision over Colgate that put the Eagles in the Patriot League semifinals versus Holy Cross. AU is one slower and point chalenged squads in the college game but they win behind the #12 defense that gives up a scant 60 points. The Eagles set the tone with a 30-15 lead after 20 minutes by limiting the Raiders to less then 40% accuracy while countering with 47.7% shooting of their own to win the battle of half court attacks. John Schoof gave his team 16 points and six boards followed by a 14 point, ten rebound and five assist effort by Tony Wroblicky while Darius Gardner tossed in 12 points.
