The Seton Hall Pirates close out the regular season with a trip to Butler to face the Bulldogs at 4:30 on Fox Sports One.
Seton Hall sits at .500 overall and 6-11 in conference play and have had a week to rest after a quality win over Xavier at home last weekend 71-62. It was a three headed attack for the Pirates in the win as Teague, Oliver and Edwin combined for 54 points to pace the Pirates to the victory. Seton Hall won the battle on the boards and totaled 18 team assists in the win. Sterling Gibbs had 5 assists off the bench after not starting for the 2nd time in the past three contests. While no post season hope remains for the Pirates, they will certainly be a tough out in the conference tourney.
Butler finally got a positive outcome as they broke out of their losing streak and got the ever elusive conference win number three against fellow cellar dweller DePaul Thursday night. The usual Suspects led the way as Kellen Dunham and Khyle Marshall scored 37 in the contest and the Butler reserves stepped up as well as Elijah Brown and Nolan Berry combined for 13. Butler had a 46-29 edge on the glass and forced 12 turnovers on DePaul. The win moves the Bulldogs to 3-14 in conference play and a half game ahead of DePaul.
Butler has to be feeling good after arguably their best game of the season. With that said, the Bulldogs have struggled against pretty much all oncomers this season and certainly have not put together back to back solid games. I like the Pirates to get the win here behind the presence of Gene Teague in the post. I expect a close game throughout and a win and cover by the road team at the end.
