The Line: George Mason Patriots -6 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Duquesne Dukes and George Mason Patriots will meet Saturday in a battle between two of the bottom feeders in the Atlantic 10. When these teams met on February 8, the Patriots won 74-68.
It’s no secret the Dukes have been a lousy team in the second half of the season, as they’ve only won two games since February 1. On the season, they’ve averaging 73.4 points on 44 percent shooting and are allowing 73.8 points on 45.8 percent shooting. They’re also shooting just 67.3 percent from the free throw line, which doesn’t help in close games. On the road, the Dukes average 74.7 points and give up 74.1 points. They are 11-15-3 ATS overall and 7-2-1 ATS on the road.

The Patriots are playing more consistent basketball, splitting their last six games and coming off a road win over La Salle. On the season, they’re averaging 69.6 points on 44.3 percent shooting and are allowing 71.8 points on 44.6 percent shooting. The Patriots want to keep the game low-scoring, as they’re just 3-6 SU when scoring 70 or more points. At home, they average 71.8 points and give up 72.3 points. They are 13-13 ATS overall and 4-7 ATS at home.
This is going to be an interesting game between two teams that have been doing a solid job against the number. The Dukes are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Patriots have covered their last four games.
However, the underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between these two teams, and the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
When it’s a toss-up matchup, always take the points, and those trends back up that theory even more.
I’ll take the Dukes and the points.
