The Stony Brook Seawolves look for a full 40 minute effort to down Maine in the America East quarterfinals.
Maine had a shot of moving up a few spots in the conference standings before slumping badly to close the season. The Black Bears dropped six straight before defeating New Hampshire but the damage was done as Maine shared the cellar with two others. While many teams in the bottom half of the conference struggled in most areas, the defense was the problem here with Maine allowing 83 points which right at the bottom of the game. Can the Black Bears rear up defensively and extend their season? My guess is they'll need to light up the scoreboard and hope it's enough.

Even though Vermont is the of the conference in my mind Stony Brook isn't far behind. A second place finish behind the Catamounts at 13-3 and the only team to beat Vermont tells me this team has the weapons to win the league title although a closer look at the schedule shows a team that did a lot of winning but didn't always dominate some of the lesser lights. The bottom line is the Seawolves play well at both ends of the floor and can win in any number of ways. If the defense struggles then four double digit scorers can get points with Jameel Warney leading the attack with nearly 15 points and eight boards on 63% shooting.
Despite the huge difference in records both teams have mostly played closer then this number. I don't really have an interest in this one or any of the big spread games in the AE...
