The South Dakota Coyotes and Denver Pioneers will meet Sunday night in a Summit League Quarterfinal matchup. These teams split their previous two meetings this season.

The Coyotes head into this matchup averaging 67.3 points on 42.7 percent shooting. They shoot 75.8 percent from the free throw line, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and have a guard-center combo that averages 23.1 points per game. Defensively, they allow 73.2 points on 44.6 percent shooting from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc. Obviously, this is their weakness, as they’ve allowed 80-plus points in seven games this season. ATS, the Coyotes are 13-12 overall.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Pioneers are a slow-paced team that relies heavy on their defense and high-percentage offense. They average 66 points on 46 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Defensively, they allow just 63.9 points on 47.4 percent shooting. Their feisty defense forces an average of 12.5 turnovers and holds teams to just 32.6 percent shooting from downtown. This defense has held opponents to less than 70 points in six of their last eight games. ATS, the Pioneers are 11-13-1 overall.

The Coyotes won the first meeting 59-54 back in January, while the Pioneers won the most recent meeting 75-67 in early February. When you combine both scores, you end up with two teams that are pretty even and should produce another close game with this being the conference tournament.

Although the Coyotes are 1-4 ATS in their last five games, five of their last seven losses have been decided by six or less points. Meanwhile, the Pioneers have lost two straight games and are 0-4 ATS in their last four matchups following an ATS loss.

These teams are pretty even and I can expect another contest that comes down to the wire.

Give me the points.
