The Line: Saint Joseph's Hawks -8.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The La Salle Explorers and Saint Joseph’s Hawks will end their regular seasons on Sunday. When these teams met back on February 15, the Hawks won 75-64.
The Explorers have lost six of their last eight games, including a two-point home loss on Thursday to George Mason. They just can’t get over the hump and a lot of it lately has to do with a lack of offense. In their last five games, they’re averaging 59.6 points on 39.6 percent shooting and are allowing 63 points on 42 percent shooting. They haven’t been a great offensive team to begin with, averaging 67.5 points on the season, but even those numbers have taken things to a new level. On the road, they average 60.4 points and allow 67.2 points. They are 6-19-1 ATS overall and 3-11 ATS on the road.
The Hawks have been one of the hottest teams in the Atlantic 10, winning six of their last seven games. However, they are coming off a road loss against George Washington, a game in which they allowed 46 points in the second half. Still, in their last five games, they’re averaging 75.4 points on 52 percent shooting and are allowing 65.8 points on 39.5 percent shooting. They’ve scored 79 or more points in three of their last four games and have held two of their last five opponents under 60 points. At home, they average 71.6 points and give up 65.2 points. They are 14-10-1 ATS overall and 6-5-1 ATS at home.
La Salle has had trouble covering the number for as long as we can remember, as it is just 6-20-1 ATS in its last 27 games. Meanwhile, the Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, while the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between these two teams.
I see a St. Joseph’s double-digit win, which makes the opening line perfect.
