The Line: Ohio Bobcats -13 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
In the first round of the MAC Tournament, the Ohio Bobcats and Ball State Cardinals will meet Monday night. When these teams played back on January 15, the Bobcats won 71-51.
The Cardinals head into this matchup losing 12 of their last 13 games. They average 64.3 points on 40.4 percent shooting and allow 75.1 points on 46.6 percent shooting. They lack depth on the offensive end, having just four players averaging more than six points, and they’ve allowed 80-plus points nine times. Their strength would be their rebounding, as they average 37 boards per game. The Cardinals are 12-15 ATS overall and 5-10 ATS on the road.

The Bobcats have won four of their last seven games and five of their last six meetings against the Cardinals. On the season, they average 71.2 points on 45.6 percent shooting and allow 67.1 points on 41 percent shooting. On the offensive end, they’re led by senior guard Nick Kellogg, who averages 15.3 points per game. However, their strength would be their defense, as 16 of their 21 wins have come when holding teams under the 70-point mark. The Bobcats are 13-12 ATS overall and 4-9 ATS on their home court.
Neither team is great at covering the number and while Ohio has controlled this series for the most part, five of the last eight meetings have been decided by single digits. Not only that, but the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between these two teams. Ohio has also failed to cover in four straight home games.
Sure, the Bobcats should have no problem winning this game like they have in the past, but laying double digits in a tournament game is just too tough for me to do.
I’ll take the points, but certainly wouldn’t put the house on it.
