The Delaware State Hornets and Florida A&M Rattlers will play Tuesday night in a MEAC Tournament first round matchup. When these teams met on February 17, the Rattlers won 68-63.
The Hornets have actually been in a bit of a rhythm lately, winning five of their season’s nine wins within the last month. On the season, they’re averaging 59.5 points on 41.6 percent shooting and are allowing 66.1 points on 44 percent shooting. They have three players averaging in the double figures, but they’re really just a six-man team that asks a ton from their starters. Their weakness is obviously the offensive side of the ball, but they have bumped their scoring average to 65.8 points in their last five games. They are 0-1 ATS on the season overall.

The Rattlers have also been a hot team over the last couple of weeks, winning five of their last six games. On the season, they’re averaging 69.4 points on 39.2 percent shooting and are allowing 74.2 points on 43.1 percent shooting. They’re led by senior guard Jamie Adams, who averages 17 points and 3.7 assists. The Rattlers make their living on the glass, averaging close to 40 rebounds per game, while the defense averages seven steals. Their weakness, however, would be their free throw shooting at 65.4 percent. They are 0-0 ATS on the season.
The Hornets are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 neutral site games, while the Rattlers are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games overall. It’s always interesting to get two teams that don’t usually play in lined games.
However, it’s no secret Florida A&M is the better team, and should have a field day on the glass against a much smaller Delaware State squad.
I like the Rattlers to get the win and the cover.
