The Old Dominion Monarchs and the Marshall Thundering Herd face off on Wednesday in the Conference USA Tournament.
The Old Dominion Monarchs got a bye in the first round of the CUSA Tourney with their sixth place finish in the regular season standings. ODU went 9-7 in CUSA and 5-10 away from home this season. Aaron Bacote is averaging 16.3 points per game to lead the Monarchs. Dimitri Batten is averaging 10.8 points, Kenan Palmore is averaging 10.1 points, and Richard Ross is averaging 9.5 points and 7.2 rebounds. Old Dominion is averaging 63.6 points and they are shooting 42.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 64.7 points and their opponents are shooting 41.7 percent. ODU finished the season going 5-4 in their last nine games.

The Marshall Thundering Herd knocked off Florida Atlantic on Tuesday to advance to this game. Marshall is 5-12 in Conference USA games and 3-13 in games played away from home. Kareem Canty leads the Thundering Herd averaging 16.3 points and 5.6 assists per game. Chris Thomas is averaging 13 points, Ryan Taylor is averaging 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds, and Shawn Smith is averaging 7.3 points. Marshall is averaging 72.7 points and they are shooting 43.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.9 points and their opponents are shooting 44.1 percent. Marshall lost by seven to ODU on February 27.
Old Dominion is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games, 1-5 against the spread following a win, and 5-2-1 against the spread after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game. Neither of these teams look to be attractive options here but I will lay the small number with the favorite in what is a mild lean at best.
