The Stanford Cardinal and the Washington State Cougars face off on Wednesday in Las Vegas in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
The Stanford Cardinal won their last game of the regular season to end a three game losing streak and finish in a 5-way tie for third place in the Pac-12 standings. Stanford is 10-8 in the Pac-12 and 7-7 in games played away from home. Chasson Randle is averaging 18.8 points per game to lead the Cardinal. Dwight Powell is averaging 14.1 points and 7.2 rebounds, Anthony Brown is averaging 13.1 points and 5.0 rebounds, and Josh Huestis is averaging 11.5 points and 8.7 rebounds. Stanford is averaging 73.8 points and they are shooting 46.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 68.7 points and their opponents are shooting 41.9 percent. Stanford will need a few wins to make the NCAA Tournament.

The Washington State Cougars got a win in their season finale that ended their eight game losing streak. WSU is 3-15 in the Pac-12 and 3-12 in games played away from home. DaVonte Lacy leads the Cougars averaging 19.1 points per game. D.J. Shelton is averaging 9.9 points and 9.5 rebounds, Que Johnson is averaging 9.9 points, and Royce Woolridge is averaging 7.3 points. Washington State is averaging 62.4 points and they are shooting 40.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.9 points while their opponents are shooting 44.8 percent. Washington State put forth a huge effort knocking off UCLA on Saturday and they will need more of those to make some noise here.
Stanford is 0-4 against the spread in their last four games, 13-3 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four neutral site games. Washington State is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 neutral site games, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-5 against the spread against the Pac-12. Stanford has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
I like Stanford to win this one but I wouldn’t be shocked if Wazzu put up a tough fight here and I like them to cover.
