The Line: Utah State Aggies -2.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Colorado State Rams and Utah State Aggies will meet Wednesday in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament. These teams played twice already this season, and the Aggies won both meetings.
The Rams ended their season losing five of their last seven games and putting a damper on a solid first half of the year. They are a solid offensive team that averages 73.5 points on 42.8 percent shooting. A combination of J.J. Avila and Daniel Bejarano average 33 points per game and 15.9 rebounds. The team also takes good care of the basketball, allowing just nine turnovers per contest. Defensively, they allow 69.6 points on 44.3 percent shooting. The Rams are 7-17-1 ATS overall.

The Aggies also stumbled their way across the finish line, losing four of their final six games. Still, they’re a dangerous all-around basketball team, especially on the offensive end where they shoot 40.4 percent from beyond the arc. There are shooters everywhere on the floor with this team, and they knockdown a solid 73.7 percent from the free throw line. Defensively they allow 66.3 points on 41.9 percent shooting, which may be even more impressive than the offensive end. The Aggies are 16-11-1 ATS overall.
The Aggies won the first meeting by seven points and the most recent meeting by nine points. Besides the losses as of late, neither team has really changed all that much. The Aggies also found their offensive rhythm in the final two games, which included shooting 42.6 percent against a solid defensive team in Wyoming.
The Rams just haven’t been able to cover the number all season with any consistency and simply don’t have the horses on either side of the ball to pull this one off.
Utah State is a team that could surprise some people in this tournament, and I believe it’ll start with a win and a cover in the first round.
