The 2014 ACC Tournament will begin Wednesday afternoon, which means it’s time to quickly look over the future odds and try to nail the winner on the head. While Duke is the favorite to win this thing, there are a couple of teams with much better odds that could put some extra money in your pocket heading into the NCAA Tournament.

Let’s look at some of the dark horses.

ACC Tournament: Betting Preview and Future Bets

Mark Dolejs-USA TODAY Sports

North Carolina: You can get the Tar Heels at +700 most places. This is a team that won’t play its first game until Friday and won’t face potentially Syracuse or Duke until the championship game. They have the best post game of any team in the conference and have already beaten Duke, Pittsburgh and Louisville this season. As long as they can knockdown their damn free throws, they have a solid shot to win the entire tournament. It’s tough to ignore odds like that.

Syracuse: The Orange don’t have great odds at +350, but that’s still 700 dollars in your pocket for simply putting 200 dollars down. Sure, they’ve had a bad stretch the last couple of weeks, but C.J. Fair is finally out of his slump and it looks like Jerami Grant is healthy again. Are they overrated a little bit? Probably? But Syracuse is still one of the better teams in the country and could certainly win this tournament by stringing together three wins.

Pittsburgh: They’re the most realistic longshot on the board at +1200. Despite them sleepwalking over the last two months, the Panthers still shoot 46.1 percent from the field and allow just 62.5 points per game. They have the big bodies that can ware teams down in the pains and the crafty guards that can put up points in a hurry. Regardless of what happened recently, Pittsburgh is still a disciplined team that won’t go down quietly. Don’t be the next person to sleep on this team come tournament time.

Clemson: The Tigers have a brutal stretch in the bottom half of the bracket, as they’d probably have to beat Syracuse and Duke just to reach the final game. But they’ve beaten Duke already this season and have hung around with some of the other top teams in the ACC. They’re third in the country in points allowed (57.6) and have a player in K.J. McDaniels, who can take over the tournament when hot. The Tigers play elite defense and won’t back down form anybody. Try finding better value than getting them at +4000.
