The Fordham Rams and Dayton Flyers will play Thursday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 conference tournament matchup. When these teams played back on January 15, the Flyers won 80-68.
The Rams advanced to this matchup by beating George Mason on Wednesday, 70-67. Despite shooting just 35.4 percent from the field in the victory, they grabbed 50 rebounds, including 24 offensive rebounds. Guards Branden Frazier and Bryan Smith led the way with 14 points apiece. On the season, the Rams average 71.7 points on 39.4 percent shooting and allow 77.7 points on 45.9 percent shooting. And as they showed in the George Mason game, their rebounding is a major strength, averaging 36.9 boards per game. They are 11-13-1 ATS overall.

The Flyers ended the season winning nine of their last 10 games. On the year, they’re averaging 73.2 points on 46.2 percent shooting and allowing 67.4 points on 44.3 percent shooting. They’re not a deep team with only seven players playing in all 31 games, but they have four players averaging at least nine points, and they shoot 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. The team’s weakness would be their 68.9 percent free throw shooting, which is about one percent less than the national average. The Flyers are 16-11 ATS overall this season.
The Rams are 4-0 ATS in their last four neutral site games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against teams with a winning SU record. The Flyers are 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral site games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Although Dayton beat the breaks off Fordham earlier in the year, the Rams have been a different team and have kept things close lately. They just beat George Mason as a five-point underdog and lost by three points to George Washington. They have what it takes to give teams fits.
The Rams may not win many games, but they’ve been covering lately. I’ll continue to ride them and the points.
