The Utah State Aggies and San Diego State Aztecs will play a MWC tournament game Thursday afternoon. The Aztecs swept the season series.
In the Aggies first tournament win on Wednesday over Colorado State, they looked a lot like how they played earlier in the year. They made 11 threes, grabbed 37 rebounds and held Colorado State to 42.9 percent shooting. Guard Preston Medlin led the way with 17 points and five assists. On the season, the Aggies average 70.2 points on 45.5 percent shooting and allow 66.4 points on 41.9 percent shooting. They are 17-11-1 ATS overall on the season.

The Aztecs won the regular season title and ended the year on a four-game winning streak. On the season, they average 71.3 points on 43.9 percent shooting and allow 57.2 points on 38.5 percent shooting. They’re not much of an offensive team, but are led by senior guard Xavier Thames, who averages 16.9 points and 3 assists. They average 38.3 rebounds and 7.7 steals, but their weakness would be their shaky 65.2 percent free throw shooting. They are 16-11 ATS overall.
The Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six following an ATS win. The Aztecs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played on a neutral site and 4-1 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss.
I like the way the Aggies have been playing lately, and they have an offense that can give the Aztecs fits. It’s also important to remember the Aztecs are coming off an emotional 16-point comeback against New Mexico to win the conference title.
While this seems to be a bad spot for San Diego State, there's no line as of yet. Please check back later for your free pick.
