The Tulane Green Wave and Tulsa Golden Hurricane will play Thursday afternoon in a C-USA quarterfinal. When these teams played back on January 9, the Golden Hurricane won 97-71.
The Green Wave won their first tournament matchup on Wednesday with a 66-61 victory over North Texas. In the win, they made nine threes, grabbed 37 rebounds and held the Mean Green to just 39.6 percent shooting. Guard Johnathan Stark led the way with 21 points and seven assists. On the season, the Green Wave average 64.3 points on 41.7 percent shooting and allow 70.1 points on 44.3 percent shooting. They are 14-12 ATS overall this season.

The Golden Hurricane ended the regular season on an eight-game winning streak and went 13-3 SU in conference play. On the season, they average 73.2 points on 43.8 percent shooting and allow 68.2 points on 40.7 percent shooting. They have three players who average double-digit points, but sophomore guard James Woodard leads the way with 14.9 points and 6 rebounds. While they’re a solid offensive team, they shoot just 67.6 percent from the free throw line. However, even with leaving free points on the board, they’ve still racked up an impressive 19-8 ATS record.
The Green Wave are 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral site games. The Golden Hurricane are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a SU win and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS win. The Green Wave are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings between these two teams.
While I wouldn’t expect a blowout the way it was in their earlier meeting, it’s no secret the Golden Hurricane are the much better team in this matchup. They’ve dominated the season series and should be able to do just enough to win this game by 15 or so points.
