The Idaho Vandals and UMKC Kangaroos will play in a Thursday afternoon WAC quarterfinal. These teams just played five days ago and ended up splitting the season series.
The Vandals have been on a little hot streak lately, winning four of their last five games. On the season, they average 72.7 points on 44.6 percent shooting and allow 72.7 points on 44.6 percent shooting. They’re led by one of the best players in the WAC in senior forward Stephen Madison, who averages 19.9 points and 7.6 rebounds. As a team, the Vandals shoot 68.1 percent from the free throw line and average 34.6 rebounds. They are 2-3 ATS overall this season.

The Kangaroos limped into this tournament losing seven of their last 10 games. On the season, they average 69.2 points on 43 percent shooting and allow 76.5 points on 46.5 percent shooting. Defense is a major issue, as they’ve allowed 80-plus points 12 times this season. Offensively, however, this team can put up points as Martez Harrison and Nelson Kirksey combine for 30.2 points per game. As a team, they average 33 rebounds and shoot a ridiculous 63.3 percent from the free throw line. This is the first lined game of the year for the Kangaroos.
The Kangaroos are 4-0 ATS in their last four games, but of course, none of those games took place this season. Meanwhile, the Vandals are just 3-11 ATS in their last 14 conference games and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games overall.
Certainly not teams you’d like to place your money on.
However, with the fact neither team plays in many lined games, we’re getting some serious value in this matchup. Idaho is the much better team and has a player in Madison who’s more than capable of taking over a game. The Vandals are also bigger and should dominate the paint as they did in last Saturday’s victory, grabbing 37 boards.
Take the small chalk.
