One of the more underrated conference tournament games on Friday will be a C-USA battle between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Southern Miss Golden Eagles. When these teams played on January 19, the Golden Eagles won 80-71.
The Bulldogs won their first tournament matchup with an 86-65 win over Charlotte. They shot 49.2 percent from the field, forced 16 turnovers and held the 49ers to 37.9 percent shooting. Michale Kyser led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds. On the season, the Bulldogs average 80.7 points on 45.5 percent shooting and allow 65.3 points on 40.8 percent shooting. They average 39.5 rebounds per game, but only shoot 68.1 percent from the free throw line. They are 15-10 ATS overall.

The Golden Eagles advanced by beating UTEP, 64-56. Despite making just three of 18 three-point attempts, they came up with 20 offensive rebounds and held the Miners to just 38.8 percent shooting. Crazy enough, not a single starter scored in the double figures, but Aaron Brown scored 18 points off the bench. On the season, the Golden Eagles average 70.7 points on 45.1 percent shooting and allow 62.5 points on 42.3 percent shooting. They are an impressive 19-9-1 ATS overall.
The Golden Eagles are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games against teams with a winning SU record, while the Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games. The favorite has covered the number in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
This is a true toss-up, but I have to go with the more complete team in the Bulldogs. They have the slight advantage on the glass and didn’t play nearly as poorly as the Golden Eagles did, which is concerning.
