The Pittsburgh Panthers play the North Carolina Tar Heels in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament.
Pittsburgh beat Wake Forest 84-55 in the 2nd round of the ACC tournament yesterday. On the season, Lamar Patterson, who in my opinion is one of the best players in the ACC, if not the country this season, leads the Panthers. Patterson averages a team-high 17.6 points and 4.5 assists per game this season. Talib Zanna is averaging a second-best 12.5 points per game while averaging a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game. The Panthers average a solid 72.6 points per game while shooting 46.1% from the field as a team this season. Pittsburgh is one of the better rebounding teams in the ACC, averaging 36 boards per game. Pittsburgh has won three of their last four games after losing three straight games in February. The Panthers finished an impressive 7-2 on the road in conference play and now 4-1 on neutral courts this season.

The North Carolina Tar Heels dropped to 23-8, 13-5 ACC after losing at Duke 93-81 on Saturday night to end the regular season schedule. On the season, Marcus Paige, who is averaging a team-high 17.1 points and 4.5 assists per game this season, leads the Tar Heels. James Michael McAdoo is averaging a second-best 14.2 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game. Brice Johnson has stepped up and is averaging 10.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. North Carolina is shooting 46.5% from the field while averaging a solid 76.4 points per game as a team this season. North Carolina ranks 10th in the country in rebounding, pulling down 39.9 boards per game as a team. The Tar Heels, led by Paige are also one of the best distributing teams, averaging 15.7 assists per game this season. North Carolina had won twelve straight games before losing to Duke on Saturday night. The Tar Heels went 5-4 on the road in conference play and they went 2-0 on neutral courts this season.
North Carolina beat Pittsburgh by four points a month ago at home. Pittsburgh is a dangerous team and I believe they have the formula to beat North Carolina. The Panthers have a great size in the front-court and play well away from home. I think Pittsburgh gets the win on Friday.
