The Line: Richmond Spiders -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
In an Atlantic 10 quarterfinal matchup, the VCU Rams and Richmond Spiders will battle it out on Friday. The Rams swept the season series.
The Spiders won their first tournament game on Thursday against the Duquesne Dukes. In the 76-64 win, they grabbed 40 rebounds, got the free throw line 26 times and held the Dukes to just 6-24 from beyond the arc. Terry Allen and Kendell Anthony combined for 50 points and six assists. The win was their first time scoring at least 70 points in seven games. On the season, the Spiders average 67 points on 42.4 percent shooting and allow 65 points on 41.2 percent shooting. They are 13-16-2 ATS overall.

The Rams ended their season on a four-game winning streak. And as usual, it’s been their defense that has led the way. On the season, they’re averaging 75.6 points on 42 percent shooting and are allowing 65.5 points on 43.1 percent shooting. Their defense forces 18 turnovers per game. Offensively, Treveon Graham leads the way with 15.6 points and 7.1 rebounds. The Rams are 15-13-1 ATS overall.
The Spiders are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven following an ATS win. The Rams are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four conference games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six against teams with a winning SU record. The favorite is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.
This is a bad matchup for the Spiders, as they simply don’t have enough consistent offense to beat a defensive juggernaut like the Rams. VCU will takeaway Anthony and force others to step up. I’m afraid the Spiders don’t have another answer with Lindsey out of the lineup.
Take the Rams and the chalk.
