The Toledo Rockets meet the Western Michigan Broncos in the MAC Championship on Saturday.
Western Michigan rallied from a 17 point first half hole to force overtime as they outlasted Akron 64-60 in the MAC semifinals on Friday. Both teams connected at around 40% from the floor in what was a relatively even boxscore that says a 15-56 Broncos advantage at the charity stripe was the decisive number. Shayne Whittington led all scorers with 18 points and 13 rebounds followed by Connar Tava and David Brown with 16 points apiece with Tava pulling in 12 boards as WMU only went with a five man rotation.

Toledo broke open a four point game with a one sided second half to walk away with a 59-44 victory over Eastern Michigan and earn a spot in the MAC title game. The up tempo Rockets were slowed by the Eagles but beat them at their own game with a 41%-32% shooting advantage combining with eight more free throws to provide a comfortable margin. Rian Pearson gave Toledo 18 points and nine boards with Nathan Boothe tossing in 13 while Justin Drummond added eleven points and ten rebounds.
I guess it's fitting that the two teams that tied for first in the regular season meet in the tourney championship. Toledo had the easier semifinal then Western Michigan but this should be close so please check back...
