The Line: Georgetown Hoyas -3.5 -- Over/Under: 142.5 See the Latest Odds
The Georgetown Hoyas and the West Virginia Mountaineers face of Tuesday as they meet in a first round NIT Game.
The Georgetown Hoyas were expecting more this season but they never really got it going and they find themselves out of the Big Dance and playing in the NIT. Georgetown lost three of their last four games and five of their last seven to finish in seventh place in the Big East and they went 9-4 in non-conference games. Markel Starks leads the Hoyas averaging 17.1 points per game. D’Vauntes Smith Rivera is averaging 17 points, Jabril Trawick is averaging .8 points, and Mikael Hopkins is averaging 6.2 points and 5.2 rebounds. Georgetown is averaging 70.2 points and they are shooting 46 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.4 points and their opponents are shooting 41.2 percent. Georgetown ad three wins against teams ranked in the top 25 but some bad losses are what ruined their season.

The West Virginia Mountaineers showed plenty of promise this season finishing in seventh place in the Big 12 Conference, the conference who put the most teams in the NCAA Tournament. WVU is 8-5 in non-conference games but lost five of their last seven games. Juwan Staten leads the Mountaineers averaging 18 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. Eron Harris is averaging 17.4 points, Terry Henderson is averaging 11.6 points, and Devin Williams is averaging 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds. West Virginia is averaging 77.5 points and they are shooting 43.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 73.3 points and their opponents are shooting 44.7 percent. West Virginia is clearly a team to watch next season if their young talent returns.
Georgetown is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games, 5-1 against the spread against the Big 12, and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning record. West Virginia is 3-7 against the spread against the Big East, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, and 0-5 against the spread in their last five road games. West Virginia has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
I look for defense to take over and I like the under at 142.5.
I also have a strong pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
