The Missouri Tigers and the Davidson Wildcats face off on Tuesday in an opening round NIT game.
The Missouri Tigers were hoping to get a chance to get back to the NCAA Tournament but they were trounced by Florida in the SEC Tournament and their body if work simply wasn’t good enough to get them in. Missouri is 13-2 in non-conference games this season and won six of their last 10 games. Jabari Brown leads the Tigers averaging 19.8 points per game. Jordan Clarkson is averaging 17.7 points, Earnest Ross is averaging 13.7 points and 6.1 rebounds, and Johnathan Williams III is averaging 5.9 points and 6.5 rebounds. Missouri is averaging 72.9 points and they are shooting 45.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 69.5 points and their opponents are shooting 41.4 percent. Missouri lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season as a two seed.

The Davidson Wildcats were the regular season champions of the SoCon but they lost in the Finals of the conference tournament giving them an automatic bid to the NIT. Davidson went just 5-11 in out of conference games and despite winning 15 in a row heading into the Southern Conference Tournament Final they have an RPI of 128. De’Mon Brooks leads Davidson averaging 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Brian Sullivan is averaging 13.2 points, Tyler Kolinoski is averaging 10.9 points, and Tom Droney is averaging 10.3 points. Davidson is averaging 78.6 points per game while shooting 48 percent while defensively they are allowing 72.5 points and their opponents are shooting 46.5 percent. Davidson appeared to be playing their best basketball at the end of the season.
Missouri is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 home games, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Davidson is 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 10-21-1 against the spread in their last 32 non-conference games.
My free pick in this one is on the over at 149.5 that should be no problem for these two. I also have a strong pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
