The Quinnipiac Bobcats meet the Yale Bulldogs in a first round CIT bout at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
By any measuring stick you would have to agree that Quinnipiac's first season in the MAAC was a success. A third place finish at 14-6 and 20 win campaign would be the envy of many schools although there are things to work on such as a defense that allows nearly 77 points. Much of that is the nature of their run and gun mentality which actually worked out well with the attack putting up 79 points. In the postseason I don't see the Bobcats changing much against Yale as they will try to speed up the game and hope four DD scorers led by Ike Azotam (16.5 ppg) and Zaid Hearst (15.7 ppg) can continue to score and rebound.

Going by the numbers Yale finished second in the Ivy but in reality the conference belonged to Harvard with everybody else falling in line although the Bulldogs handed the Crimson their only defeat. Yale scored and allowed 66 points but it's tough to dissect the stats in this conference that frankly defy logic at times. The offense and team struggled down the stretch with losses in four of five with 61 points the highest outputs in the defeats. If the Bulldogs are going to succeed inthe CIT their defense will likely have to hold Quinnipiac to around 70 points and get scoring from Justin Sears (17 ppg) and Javier Duren (12 ppg) with the supporting cast kicking in their share.
I can see either team winning but I have concerns in backing either. Will Quinnipiac get stops and will Yale be able to slow the Bobcats. I'll take the points but this game shouldn't be at the top of your list...
