The UTEP Miners and the Fresno State Bulldogs face of on Wednesday in post season college basketball action.
The UTEP Miners finished in fifth place in Conference USA with just four conference losses as the fur teams in front of them all tied for first. UTEP was 14-5 at home this season and 11-6 in non-conference games. Julian Washburn is averaging 13 points per game to lead the Miners in scoring. Vince Hunter is averaging 12.6 points and 6.4 rebounds, John Bohannon is averaging 11.7 points and 8.3 rebounds, and C.J. Cooper is averaging 9.8 points. Texas-El Paso is averaging 69.4 points and they are shooting 46.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.4 points and their opponents are shooting 38.2 percent. UTEP had their chances to get into the mix in CUSA but they lost to Southern Miss and Tulsa in late February and then lost to Southern Miss again in the conference tournament.

The Fresno State Bulldogs finished tied for fifth place in the Mountain West and they had plenty of chances to show what they are made of but came up short going 0-5 against teams ranked in the top 25. Fresno State is 5-9 in road games and 8-7 in non-conference games. Tyler Johnson leads the Bulldogs in scoring averaging 16 points and 7.0 rebounds. Marvelle Harris is averaging 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds, Cezar Guerrero is averaging 12.6 points, and Paul Watson is averaging 10 points. Fresno State is averaging 73.3 points and they are shooting 43.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.4 points and their opponents are shooting 43.7 percent. FSU has just one win over a team with a RPI better than 100.
UTEP is 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 non-conference games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Fresno State is 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 games, 6-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record.
