The Michigan State Spartans and the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens face off on Thursday in Spokane in a first round East Regional game in the NCAA Tournament.
The Michigan State Spartans fought through injuries much of the season but as of late they have put it together winning the Big Ten Tournament and landing a four seed in the East Region. Michigan State is 14-2 in out of conference games, 7-1 in neutral site games, and they finished the season ranked 22nd in the nation. Gary Harris finished the season as the Spartans leading scorer averaging 17.1 points per game. Adreian Payne is averaging 15.8 points and 7.4 rebounds, Keith Appling is averaging 12.3 points, and Brandon Dawson is averaging 10.4 points and 8.2 rebounds. Michigan State is averaging 75.9 points and they are shooting 47.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.3 points and their opponents are shooting 40 percent. Michigan State looks to have gotten healthy at just the right time.

The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens won the CAA regular season title and followed It up with a dramatic win in the CAA Conference Tournament. Delaware is 8-7 in non-conference games, 4-0 in neutral site games, and 0-2 against teams ranked in the top 25. Davon Usher leads the Fightin’ Blue Hens averaging 19.4 points and 6.4 rebounds. Davon Sadler is averaging 19.7 points, Jarvis Threatt is averaging 18.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, and Carl Baptiste is averaging 11.3 points and 8.0 rebounds. Delaware is averaging 79.5 points and they are shooting 44.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 75.1 points and their opponents are shooting 44 percent. Delaware has players who can get it done at every position.
Michigan State is 4-0 against the spread following a game that they covered the spread, 5-0 against the spread in their last five games, and 4-1-2 against the spread in their last seven neutral site games. Delaware is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, and 0-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
