The BYU Cougars square off against the Oregon Ducks in 10-7 action from Milwaukee Thursday at 3:10PM on TruTV.
BYU was one of the last teams in and the product of quite a bit of criticism as most pundits agreed there were some more worthy teams out there than the Cougars. Unfortunately for those squads, they got snubbed and the Cougars now have the perfect opportunity to prove those naysayers wrong. BYU is led by all conference guard Tyler Haws. Haws is one of the most elite scorers in the country and leads the Cougars with 23.4 points per game. The Cougars like to get up and down the court and can score in in bunches. BYU ranks 3rd in the nation in ppg (84.2) and 6th overall in rebounds (41.2 per game). Forwards Collinsworth and Austin man the post and dominate on the glass for the Cougars with 16.1 rebounds per game combined.

Oregon rolls into post season play hoping to build on a solid showing in the big dance last year. The Ducks were left for dead nearly a month ago as they found themselves losers of 8 of 10 and struggling to find an identity. Down the stretch, the Ducks were able to revert to the team we saw last year and reeled off 8 straight before falling in the PAC-12 semifinals. Transfer Mark Moser averages 8 boards for the Ducks in the post and is battle tested with plenty NCAA tourney experience. The Ducks like to get up and down as well and rank 11th in the nation in PPG at 81.8 per game. Joseph Young leads the Ducks in scoring at 18.6 per game and Moser averages 13.5.
This game should be one of the more exciting to watch as these two are prime to play in the 80s. I like the experience of Moser to be the difference here as they forward is physical and skilled on the blocks and I think he will pull down a double double and outduel the Cougars big man. I expect 20+ from Young and Haws but the Ducks depth to lock it up late as Oregon advances to round two with the win.
