The Line: New Mexico Lobos -3 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The Stanford Cardinal and New Mexico Lobos will play in a NCAA tournament game on Friday. Stanford received an at-large bid, while New Mexico won the MWC tournament.

Stanford is a balanced Pac-12 team that averages 73.5 points on 46.4 percent shooting. The Cardinal also shoot 37.1 percent from downtown and 70.3 percent from the free throw line. Stanford is led by junior guard Chasson Randle, who averages 18.7 points and 3.5 rebounds. Defensively, Stanford allows 68.6 points on 42.3 percent shooting. The Cardinal have kept four of their last five opponents to 63 or less points. Stanford is 14-16-1 ATS overall this season.

New Mexico Lobos vs. Stanford Cardinal - 3/21/14

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

New Mexico has been on a roll lately, winning nine of its last 10 games. The Lobos also get the job done at both ends of the floor, averaging 74.6 points on 46 percent shooting and allowing 66.4 points on 38.9 percent shooting. The Lobos are led by Cameron Bairstow and Kendall Williams, a duo that combines for 36.7 points and 10.9 rebounds. The Lobos also shoot 72.7 percent from the free throw line. Defensively, New Mexico has allowed 70 or more points just once in its nine games. The Lobos are 17-12 ATS overall this season.

The Cardinal are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Lobos are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a winning SU record.

Although Stanford has held its own against great teams for much of the season, New Mexico is a different breed at the moment. The Lobos are playing at a high level at both ends of the floor and could make a decent run in this tournament.

The Cardinal should keep this tournament game close, but I expect New Mexico to pull away late and cover the tiny chalk. There’s just not enough value here in backing the Cardinal.
