The Michigan State Spartans and the Harvard Crimson face off on Saturday for the right to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament.
The Michigan State Spartans battle with Delaware in their opener and while the Blue Hens narrowed the lead MSU stayed in control of the game. Michigan State is now 8-1 in neutral site games and the 93 points they scored was 17 points above their average. Adreian Payne had a monster effort for the Spartans scoring 41 points. Travis Trice scored 19 points while Gary Harris and Branden Dawson scored 10 points each. Michigan State shot 53.6 percent from the floor shooting 54 percent on their two-point shots and 52.6 percent beyond the three-point arc. The Spartans also hit 92 percent of their free throws all of which were needed to turn back the game Blue Hens. Michigan State has gone from the hunter to the hunted as far as their role in this tournament.
The Harvard Crimson won on Thursday making it 13 wins in their last 14 games and the second consecutive year they won an NCAA Tournament game. Harvard continued the NCAA Tournament tradition of a 12 seed knocking off a five seed with the win over Cincinnati. Wesley Saunders had 12 points to lead the Crimson scorers. Siyani Chambers and Laurent Rivard each had 11 points and Brandyn Curry and Steve Moundou-Miss each had nine points. Harvard shot 43.2 percent from the floor going 48.1 percent on their two-point shots and 35.3 percent on three-point shots. Harvard shot just 60.7 percent from the free throw line, a number they are going to need to improve on.
Michigan State is 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four neural site games, 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, 18-7-1 against the spread in their last 26 games. Harvard is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games, 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games, and 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
This one is going to be all about pace and I like the under 137 with my free pick.
My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
