The Line: Florida Gators -5 -- Over/Under: 136.5 See the Latest Odds
The UCLA Bruins and the Florida Gators face off on Thursday in Memphis in a NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchup for a spot in the Elite 8.
The UCLA Bruins followed up their win over Arizona to win the Pac-12 Tournament by winning their first two games in the NCAA Tournament to arrive in this game. UCLA opened March Madness with a 17-point win over Tulsa and then won over Stephen F. Austin by the same margin. Jordan Adams is the Bruins leading scorer averaging 17.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Kyle Anderson is averaging 14.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.5 assists, Norman Powell is averaging 11.5 points, and Zach LaVine is averaging 9.6 points. UCLA is averaging 81.5 points and they are shooting 49.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 70.1 points and their opponents are shooting 42.5 percent. UCLA struggled with top opponents for the better part of the season going 1-2 against teams ranked in the top 25 but they came on late and have won seven of their last eight games.
The Florida Gators entered the NCAA Tournament as the number one ranked team in the nation and they haven’t lost a game since December 2nd. UF controlled the game in their NCAA Tournament first round contest against Albany winning by 12 and then made a statement dominating Pitt by 16 points in the second round. Scottie Wilbekin is the leader of the Gators averaging 13.1 points per game and dictating the pace. Casey Prather is averaging 14.1 points, Michael Frazier II is averaging 12.5 points, and Patric Young is averaging 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds. Florida is averaging 70.4 points and they are shooting 46.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 57.5 points and their opponents are shooting 39.8 percent. Florida has proved to be great closers ad they will need to continue to be if they hope to win it all or even advance past this game.
UCLA is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games, 6-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games. Florida is 6-2 against the spread following a win, 19-8 against the spread in their last 27 NCAA Tournament games, and 5-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
Both of these teams can play at both ends of the court but I expect there to be enough scoring to take this one over the total at 136.5.
I also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
