A trip to the Elite Eight is on the line when the Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals take the court Friday.
Kentucky and unbeaten Wichita State locked horns in round two in what was worthy of an Elite Eight or Final Four battle. It was simply two heavyweights slugging it out and the Wildcats simply made one more play in their 78-76 victory. The Shockers hit at a 55% clip and were 10-21 on threes but UK was right there with on 54% accuracy and 8-18 from distance with a 16-12 edge at the line winning it. Andrew Harrison and brother tossed in 20 and 19 points with Julius Randle and James Young adding 13 points each with Randle snagging ten boards and posting five assists.

There have been times Louisville has been the 900 pound gorrilla and times where they looked more down to earth. The Cardinals looked more down to earth in a seven point decision over Manhattan in round one before powering past St Louis 66-51. The Cardinals were up nine at the break and fought off a second half a Billikens rally to win going away with 45% marksmanship getting the job done with the defense limiting SLU to 39% from the field including 0-14 from beyond the arc. Luke Hancock was the offensive star with 21 points followed by Russ Smith and Chris Jones with eleven points each while Montrezl Harrell added ten points and eleven boards.
If Kentucky does not turn the ball over and makes some free throws and some threes I see no reason this shouldn't be competitive. I just don't want to hear about how young Kentucky is...it's because the program recruits players for a year and get new stars next year.
