The Tennessee Volunteers hope to continue their march to the Elite Eight when they face the Michigan Wolverines Friday.
After escaping Iowa in overtime in a play in game, Tennessee has been on a rampage at both ends of the floor in routing Massachusetts by 19 and Mercer by 20. Mercer looked like they were going to be this year's Cinderella but the clock struck midnight for the Bears who were down 15 at the half and never really in it. The Volunteers led in the shooting department 49%-45% but turned 21 Mercer personals in to a 23-7 edge at the stripe. Josh Richardson paced the scoring with 26 points with Antonio Barton tossing in 18 followed by a 17 point, 18 rebound effort from Jarnell Stokes while Jordan McCrae netted 14 points.

Michigan has been impressive in reaching the Sweet 16 with a pair of double figure victories. Wofford osed no threat in a first round 17 point rout while while Texas put up mild resistance in a 79-65 defeat in a Field of 32 match up. The Longhorns tried to run with the Wolverines and did at times but the final score tells us how well that worked for a full 40 minutes. Michigan held UT to only 37% from the field which made their 44% look great especially considering their 14-28 accuracy from beyond the arc which was decisive. Nik Stauskas tossed in a team high 17 points and handed out eight assists with Jordan Morgan adding 15 points and ten boards followed by Glenn Robinson III and Caris LeVert with 14 points each.
The question for me is whether Tennessee can continue to light up the scoreboard because Michigan will get their points. I think the Volunteers have been out of this world so for now I'll back them...
