The cinderella 11 seed Dayton Flyers battle the overall top seed Florida Gators Saturday at 6:09 PM on TBS.
Dayton cruised into the elite 8 with a fairly easy win over a solid Stanford team Thursday night 82-72. The Flyers used strong defense in the first half to build a big first half lead that they never let up on. Dayton was led by guard Jordan Sibert who had 18 points to pace the Flyers. Sibert knocked down four of Dayton’s 8 threes on the night. Devin Oliver was solid as well with 12 points, 7 boards and 3 assists and Kendall Pollard added 12 off the bench for Dayton. Dayton racked up 19 team assists and on D, they forced the Cardinal into 12 turnovers and below 40% shooting for the game.

Florida got past UCLA Thursday night to secure a much anticpated berth in the elite 8. The Gators have not lost in months and continue to move past any and all competition they face. The Gators rode the hot hand of guard Scott Wilbekin to the win in this one. Wilbekin finished with 13 points and 3 assists and knocked down a few key triples during a decisive run in the second half. Michael Frazier II led all scorers with 19 points and 6 boards and Dorian Finney-Smith had 10, 6 and 4 off the bench in a quality 6th man effort. The Gators had a +10 advantage on the boards and shot it 50% from the field. As a team, the Gators racked up a whopping 22 team assists in a quality offensive effort. Florida now sits at 35-2 on the year.
Dayton has been very impressive in this tournament and has defeated some quality teams. Unfortunately for the Flyers, they have yet to face anyone as solid as the Gators. I like Dayton to keep this one close for about 25 minutes before the Gators size and athleticism overwhelm them and Florida coasts to the cover with a double digit win and a trip to the final 4.
