The Line: Florida Gators -22.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The William & Mary Tribe open the 2014-15 season with the top 25 ranked Florida Gators.
Last season the William & Mary Tribe lost the Colonial title game 75-74 to Delaware and saw their bid for a spot in the Field of 64 go by the wayside in the process. The Tribe are expected to be a factor in the conference once again and crack the 20 win plateau for the second consecutive year with a pair of stars leading the way. Everything revolves around senior guard Marcus Thornton who was an All-CAA perfomer a year ago with almost a 19 point average and is a preseason POY. His ability to control the perimeter combined with the return of CAA rookie of the year Omar Prewitt who was a double digit scorer and a factor on the boards with over 5.5 pulls will give the Tribe a nice one, two punch and free up others to score with opposing defenses giving this pair plenty of attention.

The Florida Gators have been a fixture in the national rankings in what seems to be forever and don't expect things to change in 2014-15 as the Gators will be in the running for the SEC crown. HC Billy Donovan had his team go 18-0 in the conference and go all the way to the Final Four where the run ended at the hands of eventual National Champion Connecticut. The question is where does UF get the 38 points and 12+ rebounds that Scottie Wilbekin, Patric Young and Casey Prather take with them to graduation. The cupboard is far from bare with Eli Carter, Michael Frazier, Dorian Finney-Smith with a number of incoming freshman in the mix. If the points are difficult to come by let's not forget Florida can always rely on a stiffling defense that held opponents to under 58 points per contest a year ago and I don't expect that to change.
W&M are 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 Fri. games and the under is 6-2 in CWM last 8 non-conference games while W&M are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. For Florida the under is 6-2 in FLA last 8 home games and is 8-3 in FLA last 11 non-conference games while the under is 34-16-1 in FLA last 51 overall. Although this is a mismatch on paper the spread is huge and you have to wonder if Florida cares about winning big. I don't see the Tribe coming close here but they seem to have enough to stay within the number...
