The Marquette Golden Eagles and Ohio State Buckeyes play Tuesday night at the Value City Arena.
The Marquette Golden Eagles won their season opener under their new head coach by beating the Tenn-Martin Skyhawks, 79-63. Marquette shot 48.2 percent from the field and made 10 threes, while the defense held the Skyhawks to 45.8 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers. JaJuan Johnson led the Golden Eagles with 20 points, while Matt Carlino had 11 points and seven assists. Marquette’s best player in Deonte Burton scored 10 points in just 12 minutes of action. The Marquette Golden Eagles have a new look to them with Steve Wojciechowski now calling the shots, but this is still a talented team that could surprise some folks in the wide open Big East. Derrick Wilson and Duane Wilson, two key bench contributors for the Golden Eagles, are questionable for this matchup.

The Ohio State Buckeyes beat up the UMass Lowell River Hawks in their season opener, 92-55. Ohio State shot an insane 61.7 percent from the field and had 20 assists on 37 made baskets, while the defense held the Hawks to 42.6 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers. Freshman guard D'Angelo Russell led the way with 16 points and six assists, while Anthony Lee and Kam Williams combined for 25 points off the bench. Sam Thompson had 14 points and four rebounds, and Shannon Scott dished out 11 assists in 30 minutes of action. Despite having to replace so much talent and experience from last season, the Ohio State Buckeyes have one of the more talented teams in the Big Ten and should be a lot more explosive offensively than last season. In fact, OSU may also be deeper than a year ago.
The Golden Eagles are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games overall. The Buckeyes are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
I'm still trying to figure out what to make of the Marquette Golden Eagles under new coaching and new players. Meanwhile, Ohio State is probably a better team than last season and has the home court advantage. Give me OSU by double digits.
