The Wofford Terriers and the Iona Gaels face off on Tuesday with a 7 AM EST tip off time as part of the 24 Hours of Basketball.
The Wofford Terriers opened their 2014 season facing Pac-12 Stanford and lost by 15 points. Wofford trailed by nine points at the half and just were unable to catch up as they couldn’t compete on the boards. Jaylen Allen led Wofford in scoring with 12 points and four rebounds. Karl Cochran had 11 points and five rebounds and Spencer Collins had 11 points and three rebounds. Wofford shot 44.7 percent from the floor and 35.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc but with just five offensive rebounds it wasn’t enough to get it done. Wofford returns home for this one.

The Iona Gaels opened their season with a win downing Cleveland State by five points on Friday. Iona took a seven-point lead into the half and then held off the Vikings for the win. Isaiah Williams led the way for Iona with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Schadrac Casimir had 17 points and four rebounds, David Laury had 15 points and seven rebounds, and A.J. English had 14 points and six assists. Iona shot 47.9 percent from the floor including 40 percent from beyond the three-point arc. Iona was outrebounded 38-29 and shot just 59.5 percent from the free throw line.
Wofford is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight home games, 12-4 against the spread in their last 16 games, and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games. Iona is 6-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six non-conference games.
This should be a fun one to watch as Iona can light it up from all over and Wofford will be throwing up the threes but I see Iona simply being too much for Wofford to handle here and I see the Gaeis getting the win.
