The Niagara Purple Eagles take the hardwood with the Saint Peter's Peacocks in an early season MAAC battle.
The Niagara Purple Eagles are picked to finish near the bottom of the MAAC so facing Pittsburgh in their season opener probably wasn't ideal. A 78-45 defeat definitely says it wasn't ideal with the Panthers up 26 at the break. This game in a nutshell was the Panthers didn't miss at 52.6% while the Purple Eagles couldn't buy a basket at 24% including an 0-14 mark on threes. Emile Blackman was the only double digit scorer with 16 points on 6-14 from the floor with Ramone Snowden adding eight points and seven rebounds while Rayvon Harris and Wesley Myers contributing seven points apiece. The issue for this team going forward is finding a few dependable scorers.

The Saint Peter's Peacocks look to break in to the win column for the first time but they will need to find some scoring to do so. The Peacocks have scored 108 points in their 0-2 start following a 51-50 loss to Hartford. The defense was certainly good enough to win with the Hawks hitting at less then 37% but their shooting was lacking and a 3-19 performance from the perimeter says the shot selection was poor. Marvin Dominique was the best player on the floor with 19 points on 6-10 accuracy while hauling in 14 rebounds. Trevis Wyche was next in line with an eight point effort but this team needs offense to succeed and where that comes from is a question.
SPC are 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 Thu. games and are 7-22-1 ATS in their last 30 home games while the under is 20-8 in SPC last 28 home games. Head to head the under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in St. Peter's while the favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Purple Eagles are picked to finish last in the MAAC and after watching them I believe that's an accurate assessment. The Peacocks are better but I'm not looking to lay double figures in an early season MAAC battle so I'll back the points...
