The Clemson Tigers head in to their third game of the season sitting at 1-1 and looking to bounce back from a 77-74 defeat at the hands of Winthrop. The Tigers were expected to win and did dominate certain areas but obviously fell short in several areas, most noticeably on the scoreboard. The Tigers defended well with the Eagles held to less then 39% shooting and they shot well at 48% but the Tigers gave the ball away 16 times and that helped Winthrop to 12 more shots and with a 9-3 edge on threes the win. Landry Nnoko led the Tigers with 19 points, nine pulls and five blocks but seven turnovers. Donte Grantham added 13 points and seven yanks while Jaron Blossomgame and and Rod Hall with 12 and eleven points.

The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs are one of those teams where you don't have a grip on until you have seen them play. The Bulldogs were not good in their opener but made up for it with an 80-67 victory at Charleston to even their record at 1-1. A 48 point second half broke open a one point game with the defense limiting the Cougars to less then 40% from the floor while their own 43% accounted for a few baskets that combined with a handful of more free throws to provide the margin of victory. Tyrell Nelson and Jerome Hill were the big guns that COFC couldn't stop with 37 points and 24 rebounds. Jarvis Davis dominated the perimeter with a game high 22 points and five yanks with a 6-9 performance on threes while Tyler Strange chipped in with 12 points and eight helpers.
