The Kent State Golden Flashes have been one of the top teams in the MAC for several years but I'm not exactly sure where this team fits in the conference until I see them a few more times. An eight point victory over Youngstown State to begin the season seemed to be a decent performance but a 62-52 win over Malone leaves me with questions especially when the Pioneers led by eight at the half. Malone outshot Kent State 39%-32% but the Golden Flashes were bailed out by 29 Malone personals which was a game changer with the Golden Flashes winning the game on the strength of a 25-8 bulge at the stripe. Jimmy Hall was a man among boys with 18 points on 6-8 from the field with a monster 16 rebounds while Derek Jackson and Kris Brewer combined for 17 points on 3-19 marksmanship.
The under is 18-5 in SIU last 23 road games and is 8-3 in SIU last 11 vs. Mid-American while SIU are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. Mid-American. For Kent State they are 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 home games. With the season so young and with so many experts having opinions on every team it becomes a wait and see scenario for me as I want to see how teams play and respond to differing situations. That's my stance here so I just feel taking the points is the better choice...
