The Kansas State Wildcats and Long Beach State 49ers play Friday night at the Walter Pyramid.
The Kansas State Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Southern Utah and UMKC. On the season, Kansas State is averaging 90.5 points on 58.5 percent shooting and is allowing 70.5 points on 44.1 percent shooting. Thomas Gipson leads Kansas State with 19 points and 7.5 rebounds, and Nigel Johnson is averaging 15 points on 69.2 percent shooting. You know KSU is off to an impressive start when Marcus Foster is the Wildcats third-leading scorer, as he was the only one last season who could score with any consistency. The Kansas State Wildcats are always going to be competitive due to their defense but if the offenses continues to play at this level, watch out. Malek Harris isn’t expected to play and Nino Williams is questionable with a knee injury.

The Long Beach State 49ers are coming off a rough 1-2 start with their only win coming against San Francisco State. On the season, Long Beach State is averaging 82 points on 54.4 percent shooting and is allowing 96 points on 52.5 percent shooting. Mike Caffey leads Long Beach State with 19.7 points and 4.7 assists, and Tyler Lamb scored 17 points in his first game of the season after serving a two-game suspension. McKay LaSalle is shooting 52.4 percent from the field and freshman Jack Williams is shooting 60 percent from downtown. The Long Beach State 49ers are the most experienced team in the Big West and can score with the best of them. However, Long Beach State isn’t going to accomplish much trading baskets each game and averaging less than 30 rebounds. The 49ers kind of are what they are, though.
The Wildcats are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The 49ers are 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 non-conference games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
While I don't like backing teams that play no defense, the Long Beach State 49ers are a great home team and the shots should fall at a high percentage. KSU will make some noise in the Big 12 this year but this is a tough road game that's far away from home.
